D and I met up with his mum for a catch-up at Baton Rouge (located near Jean-Talon and Pare St). It was ribs all around! I wasn’t able to get a clear photo of the plates of my dinner companions, but since we all had ribs, it wasn’t really a big deal.
My main came with a choice of appetizers, so I went with the creamy potato soup. It turned out to be a great choice. I was afraid it would be like watery mashed potatoes, but it was quite nice, a bit garlicky with chunks of potato. The soup was topped with cheddar cheese, green onion, and a generous mound of bacon bits. I ended up sharing the soup with D’s mum, who chose a different appetizer, plus, I didn’t want to fill up before my Big Daddy portion of ribs arrived.
My rack of ribs came with a (giant ass) side of shoe-string fries, and an order of baked beans. I’m glad I chose the beans as a side, it had different types of beans, not just standard white beans, and wasn’t too sweet either. Sadly, I admitted defeat very early on, I barely got through half of my fries (shoestring fries, the worst in the fries family, IMO), and brought most of my baked beans and ribs home.
