The Aquarius Woman

Aquarius is the sign of visionaries, unconventionality and intellectual independence. This eclectic sun sign is never boring. Aquarius is the eleventh sign of the astrological year and is known by its astrological symbol, the Water Bearer. The typical Aquarian woman is atypical. Pin her down to a stereotype and she will more than likely buck all expectations. She is unusual, startling, even unclassifiable. She will change her mind simply to be contrary. She is an enigma. Aquarius is an air sign, but unlike her other light-hearted zodiac sisters, an she is no gentle breeze or dreamy zephyr. She’s aimed on the future, and is often preoccupied with ideas that are ahead-of-their-time. She casts a wide net, and gets absorbed in what others call fringey or taboo. Her mind is often set to “roam” where she comes and goes, bringing back the unexpected. Hold on tight and go along for the ride. If you pass through the eye of the storm, you will find a smart, independent, and most of all, original woman at the heart of the hurricane.

Aquarius are the people who deviate from the crowd and go their own way. Never expect her to do anything the way everyone else does; instead, expect her to march to her own drum. If everyone else is jumping off of a bridge, expect her to be the first to find a cliff. She seeks novelty and experimentation, always after intellectual stimulation, constantly discovering something new, and forming new opinions. She wants to experience as much as possible and is not afraid of consequences. Every experience is valuable if it teaches her something about herself and the world. Her strength of individuality shines through in any conversation. Aquarius can act as an expert on any topic, and she’s very good at inflating her own importance. She prides herself on being a progressive thinker. More than anything, she is the ultimate non-conformist. She’s the last to agree with anyone’s opinion, just to boost his or her ego. This sets her apart, as a true free-thinking woman, which can be intimidating to some.

This sign cares about her fellow man, woman, child, animal, and environmental cause. She is a true humanitarian who is ready and willing to assist someone who might be short on cash or down on their luck. Usually when we hear the word “loyalty” we immediately think about being loyal to our mates. While Aquarius women may very well keep their promises in their relationships, they take loyalty to a different, deeper level. This woman will stay loyal to a particular brand, restaurant, mom-and-pop shop, team, musician, and so forth, through thick and thin, unless of course they truly prove themselves unworthy. This is a rare and wonderful trait, that seems in fact to be an endangered attitude in today’s world.

She has a gloriously eclectic personal style, and is unafraid to shock and dazzle her admirers with a daring top or an outrageous color combination. Avant-garde wardrobe, chic hairstyles, and sometimes off-the-wall elegance in footwear and jewelry, she will make her own statement. Never a fashion follower, an Aquarius woman is often positively contrary, swishing around in maxi dresses when minis are “in” and inspiring trends of her own. Her favorite colors are bright and attention grabbing, like turquoise blue, hot pink, and emerald green. Since she’s always reaching for the sky, electric blue seems the natural color for her.

Aquarius may view love as a game. Once you think you’ve got her number, the line is disconnected. She’s defiantly independent, and because of that, is known to make unconventional choices in love. The thrill of the chase is appealing to her. She will need her space, and with so many others buzzing around her (she tells you they’re just friends) you will need to steady your nerves. For the Aquarius woman, love is a sort of ideal quality, to be enjoyed and celebrated, not something that turns possessive or jealous. She will talk about her exes and other guy friends, and she expects you to treat them with the same respect that she does, even if they pose “risks” to you. The uncertainty might be too much for Earth signs in particular, who need more stability in love. But, it’s her nature to live at the edge, with everything “up in the air,” in a manner of speaking.

She is not an easy little bird to catch, for once you feel you’ve got her in your hands she’s flitted away again. It’s her nature to stay free, and even unreachable. Your Aquarius love will never rush into a relationship. She enjoys the initial courtship as much as any other part. Communication is key. She’ll find it sexy if you’re informed, and able to have a spirited dialogue about what’s happening in the world. You must be able to stimulate her mind, engage in a friendly, witty verbal battle. Once she decides that someone is worthy of her friendship or love, she can exert an almost hypnotic and irresistible mental attraction on them.

Passionate and understanding she has a love for exploring and experimenting with the unknown. Aquarius tend to be envelope pushers, always experimenting, never inhibited. They are risk takers both in and out of bed. What she seeks in the bedroom is an Einstein who can dazzle her with a brilliant mind, but also hopefully, an Einstein with a better haircut and possibly more of a tan. Since she loves being in the center of action, tell her that you want make love to her in a semi-public place. Remember the movie, “The Lover”? The lovers meet regularly in an apartment right off the street where city noises and people walking around outside the door are quite audible, and the very closeness of the street has an erotic effect on them. Be inspired by this thought, perhaps at the next party you and your love attend. Choose a room where she can hear other guests, but where the two of you can temporarily disappear for some privacy. The frisson from breaking the rules is exactly what turns this Aquarian lady on.

Take the relationship slower in the beginning. Coming on too strong, too fast, could scare her away. In her book, friends are held in very high esteem, almost equal with her lover. She may think: Friends are forever and lovers can come and go. So really concentrate on being her friend in order to enhance your love. You can’t bottle the four winds in a jar, or tie down the clouds, so don’t try. Remember not to be clingy. Don’t let her know that you’re pinning your hopes and dreams on her, even if you are. She won’t want you to control her. She doesn’t want to be tied to home or family, especially early on in the relationship, so don’t mention your desire for kids and a blissful domestic life, just quite yet. Don’t expect her to fit into the stereotypical housewife mold, either. If you do, you’re in for a sore surprise. Although Aquarius women are very loving and loyal, they don’t necessary feel challenged by domestic duties, and tend to look down on that expectation. Concentrate on improvising and staying loose for the time being. Once she knows that you are not interested in tying her down, and knows you just want to enjoy life with her, she will become a tenacious friend and lover, ready to sacrifice everything for you and be faithful to you for life.

The Aquarius Man

Aquarius individuals are intelligent, progressive and independent. “Be true to yourself” and “Don’t follow the crowd” are mottos we easily associate with this sign. Nothing about this man is conformist, from his wardrobe to his career choices to his lifestyle. Aquarius men are an exciting blend of mischief and deep thoughts. The energy of air fuels the intellectual passions of Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius, but the fixed triplicity in Aquarius adds a burrowing depth to his thought processes. Aquarians are not quite as curious as Gemini, but they are more thorough and constant in their approach to life. Although this symbol can be interpreted to imply a destiny to serve others, Aquarius also carries water in order to cleanse and renew. The water is symbolic of Aquarius’ willingness to freely share wisdom, advice and knowledge with anyone who needs it.

Intellectual, humanitarian, and visionary, a typical Aquarian man is usually a little offbeat, with a touch of the mad scientist about him. He can be a trendsetter, an absent-minded Professor type, a quirky genius, and much more. Born under the planet of shocks and futuristic thinking, Uranus, he’s bound to have some ideas that seem “out there.” It’s wise to keep an open mind, if you’re around him. His communication skills are second only to those of a Gemini. However, his nonconformist nature will not let him express himself in the usual, conventional way. He’s progressive by nature, but is known to have stubborn opinions. This makes sense when you consider the co-ruler, Saturn and his love of structure and order. This is the paradox — he rebels against fixed ideas, but can be maddeningly blind to his own.

This gentleman is interesting to be around and that’s evident by his large circle of friends. As unemotional and logical as the Aquarius man appears to be, he is also an optimist and a romantic – and this unlikely combination of traits makes him a valued friend and a dedicated partner. Popular and gregarious, Aquarius men seem to know everyone. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that everyone understands him. His feelings are often hidden and his reactions complex. The Aquarius man is a thinker, and loves to be stimulated by the unexpected. He lives off of the energy of a vigorous exchange of ideas. He’s drawn to eccentricities and original opinions, so don’t hold back. Play along, and take his antics with a grain of salt.

Love, like everything else, is a light-hearted game to the Aquarius man. He will approach relationships playfully, unleashing his flirty charm in small, calculated doses. He can seem lost to you at times, which is tough on more sensitive hearts. Remember that for an Aquarius to fall deeply in love, they first have to be friends. Don’t rush him, or think you aren’t making progress fast enough. Your aim is to be the friend that stands out. Something that can captivate him. Aquarians know better than to judge a book by its cover, so they’ll need to read you first. Let them get absorbed in your pages. Inside the Aquarius there is often a struggle between wanting to be alone but still craving love and nurturing (a side kept well hidden). This air sign can have some very contradictory ideas and traits that can confuse and confound lovers and friends. It can be difficult to get close to these types of Aquarian men, but once you do, you’ll be glad you persisted.

Ruled by Air, the way to the cerebral Aquarian’s libido is through his mind. Unpredictable and innovative, you can expect the bedroom antics to be full of new and exciting pleasures. Excite, enchant, and enthrall him with sexy little mind games and wait for the inferno of passion between the sheets to come. Sexually, Aquarius is lots of fun because he is so spontaneous and experimental. Nothing is too provocative or challenging to him in the bedroom, or more often, out of it. He might visit a sex shop and come home with a bag of toys for you both to enjoy. A sense of playfulness is essential with Aquarius and you’ll have to lighten up a bit to stay popular with him. Experimental and audacious, Aquarius men are often the first to suggest joining the mile high club, or dare you to skinny dip with them on a moonlit night.

So how to win his heart? Interdependence is the name of his game. Be utterly fascinating and engaged in your own creations. Let him know that you are cool and casual. Be a little detached. Nothing is a big deal with you. That lack of stress and drama is something Aquarians definitely are attracted to. He’s attracted to intelligence, so his partner has to be someone who understands his grand designs for life and humanity. Have an open mind, and let him be who he is. Don’t get too emotional or intense. Have full lives, then come together voluntarily, to unwind, grow and have fun. Absolute reciprocal freedom works best for a partnership with an Aquarius man, which is not to say that every Aquarian seeks an open relationship. The Water Bearer simply wants his own space and freedom of movement, and is quite happy to share a life together with a smart, self-reliant partner who supports his need for autonomy. For the right lover, this is liberating, with room to change in every which way. He longs to coexist, rather than merge. The wise woman in love with an Aquarius will not hem him in. He loves deeply and sincerely, and would give his life for his other half in an instant. He just doesn’t really buy into all the Hallmark sentimentality.
