Full Moon in Cancer; Jan. 12th, 2017 ♋

On Thursday morning at 6:34 AM EST, the first Full Moon of 2017 occurs when the sensitive Cancer Moon opposes the cool Capricorn Sun. Bringing oceanic levels of emotions, Cancer energy urges us to feel all the feels and acknowledge our deep emotional needs.

“In the wash of emotions that will rise in this interval, take care to discern which belong to you (i.e., emerging from lived experiences), and which are the emotions of your parents and extended family, your partner, or the social/collective emotional field. The more you’re able to release emotional habits and patterns that do not nourish and sustain you, the better you’ll be able to progress with fluidity and wholeness.” -Moon Quartz

This Full Moon in Cancer also falls under a tricky formation called a Grand Cardinal Cross. A cross occurs when two sets of planets are in opposition; forming a perfect square in the heavens like a four-way tug of war. This rare alignment involves Uranus in Aries, Moon in Cancer, Jupiter in Libra, and Sun with Pluto in Capricorn.

Navigating these intense moonbeams will require extra sensitivity and expressions of thoughtfulness. It can feel messy and chaotic before the waters calm again. Thankfully, a loving alignment between Venus and dreamy Neptune in healing Pisces may soothe the atmosphere.

The closer your birthday is to July 14th, the more likely you will feel this lunation. A lot depends on how things have been going along in months leading to this Full Moon. What have you been feeling in the recent weeks? If things have been smooth, you may not even notice much. xx
